🛍 Trip Logistics
1. What’s included in the trip price?
Each Drift & Flame experience includes expert-guided fishing charters, coastal lodging, fire-cooked meals prepared by Chef Andrew Garrett, fish processing and vacuum sealing, local transportation, and gratuities. All you need to bring is your sense of adventure (and a valid fishing license).
2. Where do we meet and depart from?
Most trips depart from Depoe Bay, but we also launch from other Oregon coastal ports depending on the season and species. You’ll receive detailed arrival instructions and pickup information after your booking is confirmed.
3. How many people are on each trip?
Trips are limited to 6 guests to ensure a personalized, high-touch experience.
4. Can I book a private charter for my group?
Absolutely. We offer full group buyouts for up to 6 guests. It’s perfect for families, friend groups, or corporate retreats. Reach out to inquire about custom dates.
5. How physically demanding are the fishing days?
While no prior experience is needed, guests should be comfortable standing for extended periods and moving around on a boat. Fishing days last 5–8 hours depending on the trip.
6. What happens if the weather is bad?
We work closely with our captains to ensure safety first. If conditions prevent us from going out, we’ll adjust the itinerary to include alternate experiences or reschedule when possible.
7. What time do we start and end each day?
Fishing departures are typically early morning (6:00–7:00 AM), with afternoons open for relaxation, coastal exploration, or chef-led culinary experiences.
8. What kind of lodging is included?
We partner with high-end coastal homes that offer comfort, views, and room to unwind. Think fireplace lounges, ocean breezes, and big communal tables.
9. Are airport transfers included?
Transportation is provided from multiple meeting points. We can assist with PDX and other regional airport logistics on request.
🎣 Fishing Details
10. What species will we be fishing for?
Depending on season and trip: Albacore tuna, rockfish, lingcod, coho salmon, halibut, and Dungeness crab.
11. Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. You’ll need a valid Oregon fishing license and shellfish tag. We’ll guide you through how to purchase online ahead of your trip.
12. What gear is provided and what should I bring?
All fishing gear, bait, and tackle are provided. Just bring layers, waterproof outerwear, and your favorite pair of deck boots.
13. What happens with the fish we catch?
We clean, vacuum seal, and package your catch to take home. Guests often leave with 40–100+ pounds of premium, ready-to-cook seafood.
14. Will someone clean and package the fish for me?
Yes, our captains and staff handle all processing on site.
15. Can I ship my catch home?
Yes. We can help coordinate cold packing and shipping for an additional fee.

16. What kind of meals are served?
Expect nightly multi-course dinners featuring the day’s catch, seasonal produce, wild-foraged touches, and wood-fired techniques. It’s fine dining without the white tablecloths.
17. Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes, we are happy to adapt menus with advance notice. Let us know during booking.
18. Is there a hands-on cooking or canning class?
In the summer tuna trips, Chef Garrett offers a canning demo and hands-on experience for guests interested in preserving albacore.
19. What makes the Drift & Flame food experience unique?

20. Are drinks and alcohol included?
Alcohol is not included but guests are welcome to bring their own. Select wine pairings or local beverages can be arranged on request.
💼 Booking & Payment
21. How do I book a trip?
Head to our Booking Page and submit an inquiry form. We’ll follow up to confirm availability and send payment details.
22. What’s the deposit and cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit secures your spot. Full payment is due 60 days before your trip. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future trip depending on circumstances.
23. Is gratuity included?
Yes, gratuities for fishing guides and staff are built into the trip price. If you feel the service exceeded expectations, additional gratuity is always appreciated but never expected.
24. Should I purchase travel insurance?
Yes. Weather and ocean conditions can change quickly. We strongly recommend protecting your investment with travel insurance.
25. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, ACH bank transfers, and can provide invoice links for secure checkout.

26. I’ve never fished before — is that okay?
Absolutely. Our trips are designed for all experience levels. You’ll be in good hands with professional captains and crew.
27. What should I pack?
We provide a full gear list after booking, but essentials include warm layers, rain gear, casual clothes, and a cooler for your fish.
28. What’s the minimum age for guests?
Our minimum age is 14, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
29. Can I bring my partner if they don’t want to fish?
Of course. Non-fishing guests are welcome to relax at the lodge or explore the coast while others are on the water.
